The person behind the title matters.

I'm Nimishaa. For years, I worked as a resilience coach, helping people navigate the demands of the corporate world. What stayed with me was that behind every role and every achievement is a person — someone who may be carrying far more than others can see.

That understanding shapes my counselling work today. I want to offer a space where you don't have to perform, prove yourself or have the right words. A space where we can pay attention to you, not just the responsibilities you carry.

So much of life is experienced through our minds: the stories we tell ourselves, the thoughts we return to, and the way we respond when things are difficult. I believe living well is not about forcing ourselves to think positively. It is about building a more flexible, compassionate relationship with our inner world, so there is more room for the life we want to live.

My background spans counselling and industrial-organisational psychology. I work mainly with adults, and also support teens. Together, we can explore what matters to you and move at a pace that feels manageable.

Individual counselling

Space to understand yourself. Support to move forward.

Adults

Space to explore what is weighing on you — whether that is low mood, worry, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties or a sense of feeling lost. Together, we can understand recurring patterns and find ways forward that reflect what matters to you.

Teens

A safe, non-judgemental space for teenagers navigating school pressure, identity, friendships and family change. Many arrive unsure how to put things into words; we start wherever they feel comfortable, and build a steadier sense of themselves along the way.

What might be bringing you here?

Life in Hong Kong can hold opportunity and pressure in equal measure. Perhaps you recognise something below — or perhaps what you are feeling is harder to name. Either is a valid place to start.

Worry & feeling overwhelmed

A mind that won't switch off, restless nights, or the feeling that everything needs your attention at once.

Low mood & disconnection

Feeling flat, lonely or unlike yourself — even when, from the outside, life seems to be going well.

Burnout & work pressures

Carrying expectations, questioning your direction, or feeling that you have little left to give beyond work.

Relationships & caring for others

Navigating conflict, boundaries, family expectations or the strain of being the person everyone relies on.

Grief & life changes

Making sense of loss, relocation, changing roles or a future that no longer looks the way you imagined.

Self-criticism & feeling stuck

Never feeling good enough, holding yourself to exhausting standards, or struggling to know what you want.

Recent Hong Kong surveys highlight symptoms of anxiety and depression and work-related exhaustion. These findings inform the themes here; they are not diagnoses, and your experience is individual. Sources: Mind HK & Manulife (2025) and AXA Mind Health Study (2024).

Approach

Therapy approaches we can use

There is no single way to be human, and no one approach that fits everyone. I draw on evidence-based therapies, with particular emphasis on acceptance and compassion, and we choose what fits your needs together.

Acceptance, compassion & the inner life

I am drawn to the mindfulness and compassion traditions found in Buddhism, and to how these ideas can help us meet everyday life with greater awareness and kindness. ACT shares themes with these traditions, while CFT explicitly draws on Buddhist compassion practices alongside evolutionary psychology, attachment theory and neuroscience. Both are modern psychological therapies, not religious teachings.

For me, this means making room for difficult experiences rather than fighting every thought, and learning to respond to ourselves with care rather than criticism. You do not need any religious belief to work this way; your own beliefs and preferences guide our work.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Helps you make room for difficult thoughts and feelings, while still moving towards the life you want to live.

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)

Helps you meet shame and self-criticism with understanding, and develop a kinder, steadier way of relating to yourself and others.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Explores how thoughts, feelings and actions influence each other, and helps you practise more helpful ways of responding.

Mindfulness

Brings you back to the present moment, with more steadiness and more choice about how to respond.

EMDR

Helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, so they lose their sharpness and stop intruding on the present.

Cognitive Therapy for PTSD (CT-PTSD)

Explores the meanings attached to traumatic experiences and helps reduce their hold on everyday life.

Beginning counselling

You don't need to know where to start.

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other: what has brought you here, what feels difficult at the moment, and what you hope might change. You can share at your own pace.

We can talk about how counselling works, confidentiality and its limits, and any questions you have. Together, we can consider what support might fit and whether working with me feels right for you.

A conversation, not a performance.

You do not need a diagnosis, a polished explanation or a crisis to seek support. Feeling stuck, wanting something to change, or simply wanting to understand yourself better is enough.
